This covers what is needed for the life stage Later Adulthood (65+ years) and mock PSA Task 1 If you are following my SoW 2023-2024 this is Week 7, there is less in the content delivery so this week is a Mock PSA Task 1 with guidance. This is a complete package that has a booklet and week by week programme for Unit one as well as an engaging 18 page booklet covering the A1 part of the spec, which you can add to or alter, getting students to print it off in advance of the lessons. There are 8 PowerPoints included covering all sections in more detail and having embedded videos and corresponding activities in the booklet to complete either as a classroom activity or a homework task. There are also relevant exam questions from past papers to get them in the swing. This booklet took two whole days to put together so it is guaranteed to save you time and enable you to mould resources to your own teaching style. There is also an mock exam paper for A1 and mark scheme to check progress too. Content covered Growth and development are different concepts:  principles of growth – growth is variable across different parts of the body and is measured using height, weight and dimensions  principles of development – development follows an orderly sequence and is the acquisition of skills and abilities. In infancy (0–2 years), the individual develops gross and fine motor skills: • the development of gross motor skills • the development of fine motor skills • milestones set for the development of the infant – sitting up, standing, cruising, walking. In early childhood (3–8 years), the individual further develops gross and fine motor skills:  riding a tricycle, running forwards and backwards, walking on a line, hopping on one foot, hops, skips and jumps confidently  turns pages of a book, buttons and unbuttons clothing, writes own name, joins up writing. In adolescence (9–18 years), the changes surrounding puberty: • development of primary and secondary sexual characteristics • the role of hormones in sexual maturity. In early adulthood (19–45 years), the individual reaches physical maturity:  physical strength peaks, pregnancy and lactation occur  perimenopause – oestrogen levels decrease, causing the ovaries to stop producing an egg each month. The reduction in oestrogen causes physical and emotional symptoms, to include hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, loss of libido and vaginal dryness. In middle adulthood (46–65 years), the female enters menopause: • causes and effects of female menopause and the role of hormones in this o effects of the ageing process in middle adulthood. This covers what is needed for the life stage Adolescence (9-18 years-olds) If you are following my SoW this is Week 4 is the delivery of all aspects covering growth and development in the second life stage, childhood 3-8 years. The pace has to be reasonably fast to get the content delivered, there is one PowerPoint you can use split for different lessons. All the spec content is included in one presentation with 52 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. This will allow the lesson to finish on a slide that suits you, however, to keep up with the SoW the whole of the below will need to be delivered in one week. A 21 page booklet covering the content of the BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care Unit 5 Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs content for Learning AIm B; B1 and B2. It is a word document which can be added to or altered to suit your teaching style. The booklet helps students to be organised with their notes and keep information together and has been updated to reflect the new case studies from Pearson’s November 2018. BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Component 1 - a complete teaching package to pick-up and run with. This covers what is needed for the life stage Early Adulthood (19-45 years-olds) If you are following my SoW 2023-2024 , this is Week 5, there is less in the content delivery so this week is an opportunity to start preparing students for their PSA Task 1. There are activities and worksheets to work on independently. All the spec content for Early Adulthood is included in one presentation with 39 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. To start with there is a starter activity. There is a second presentation of 14 slides which guides students through their first PSA application activity. There other choices of assessment practice to. The content covered is:- Early adulthood (19–45 years): o physical: peak physical fitness, full height reached, sexual maturity reached, women at their most fertile o intellectual: mastery of abstract and creative thinking, careers become important, may return to education o emotional: independent living and control over own lives, emotional wellbeing is based on attachment, security and contentment o social: intimate and long-lasting relationships are formed The resources are in a format you can adapt to suit your need. Support that goes with the life events and the characteristic trait self-esteem and outlook If you are following my SoW 2023-2024, this is Week 14, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES. There’s a 39 slide presentation introducing life events to get students thinking to start with. All the spec content relates to Life Event impacting on a person experiencing a point from the Health & Wellbeing category and suitable support. There is also points that guides students to considers personality impacting on coping strategies. This detail is included in the 40 slide presentation which has pause points for student contribution and breaks to complete their notes table which they can refer to in the actual PSA. There is homework worksheets for both Level 1 and Level 2 learners. The content covered is:- Health and wellbeing: • accident/injury • physical illness • mental and emotional health and wellbeing The character traits that influence how individuals cope: • resilience • self-esteem • emotional intelligence • disposition – a person’s character traits, e.g. positive, negative Formal GP support as well as family support to cope with the life events.
