The aim of this activity is for children to create a poem using one of Picasso’s paintings as inspiration. This activity does not ‘teach’ poetry rather it provides an opportunity to use an art source to inspire creative writing. The aim is for children to look at the painting and use its appearance and the feelings it evokes to create a poem.

The painting included in the resource was made by Pablo Picasso. Picasso was a Spanish Artist who was successful in his own lifetime as well as after death.

3 versions of gridlines for writing a poem
Facilitator notes outlining the activity aims and providing information on the painting
This resource is ideal for children at KS2.
