Treasure hunter: Behaviour/reward system

Overall rating 4 out of 54.4 (13 ratings)

This strategy is a lot of fun. It was used successfully in a Grade 4 class this year during a week of relief teaching. It may work in other contexts as well. Students move forward (or backwards) through 7 steps to gain a reward (chocolate or whatever you like) and a certificate to take home. Student More… names stay on their place at the end of each day and it continues the next day. When a student becomes a Treasure Hunter, they get given a certificate on the spot and they move their name to the start and begin again. Treasure Hunters are given their reward just before the 3pm bell. :)

What an excellent idea! Thanks for sharing. It will be particularly useful as a casual, for either individual days or blocks, and will help me learn students' names more quickly.

Thanks for this idea! I can't wait to try it - and wear a pirate hat to give out the treasures! Cheers!
