Mental multiplication and division (five days).

Common multiples and factors are introduced; children look for numbers which are multiples of more than one number, and find different pairs of numbers with the same product, supported by the image of arrays. Children learn to multiply by 50 by multiplying by 100 and halving and by 25 by multiplying by 100 and dividing by 4 and multiply by 19 and 21 by multiplying by 20 first. Children partition three-digit multiples of ten into 100s and 10s and four-digit multiples of 100 into 1000s and 100s in order to halve and double.
