Mental multiplication and division (three days).

Children revise multiplication and division facts for the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 times tables, use this knowledge to guess a mystery table and revise tests of divisibility for 2, 3, 5, 9 and 10, and discuss a test for divisibility by 100. They then learn multiplication and division facts for the seven times table. They use their knowledge of doubling and halving two-digit whole numbers to halve and double those with one decimal place, e.g. 4.6. Children begin to express the answers to division (dividing by 2 or 4) as mixed numbers, e.g. 21 ÷ 4 = 5¼.
