LO: To make a Stone Age necklace. Using white air-drying clay is the most time saving material although you could use any and paint it. This really tests those fine motor skills without them realising it! I also added an extension to this lesson which links to literacy 'explanation texts'. Children recorded on differentiated sheets; how they made their Stone Age necklaces. I have included these with the lesson for you to download if you wish. Enjoy!

Learning Objectives:To create a profile of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his work; To produce stained glass window art in the style of Charles Mackintosh; To create a Charles Mackintosh embroidery design; To sew an embroidery design in the style of Charles Mackintosh. This covers artists, designers, architects from the curriculum. A really enjoyable unit of work that students found enjoyable and relaxing!

I taught this unit of work with Year 5s but would be suitable for Y6 as well. The children found this topic really interesting and using art and DT to create work for the topic highly engaged them. Many skills are taught: collage, foil sculpting, mod-roc and pastel work are covered. Enjoy

A comprehensive unit of work based on the Rainforest and applying drawing techniques. 6, one hour lessons with all resources included. Learning objectives are: To learn facts about some of the Amazon Rainforest animals; To draw a rainforest animal using scale and proportion;To paint my rainforest animal accurately; To create different tones and shades using a variety of mark making; To draw an Amazon Rainforest flower using shade and tone; To complete a picture using line and tone. Children loved doing this unit and were amazed at how accurate their drawings were when using the techniques taught. Please leave feedback, I'd love to know how your pupils get on!

LO: To make a Stone Age weapon or tool. In this lesson, children apply what they've learnt previously by making a weapon or tool of their choice using only cardboard and string. This is a challenging but engaging lesson. It was a real pleasure to watch the children try and persevere to join elements without modern day glue and sticky tape!!!

I used a painting called 'Island Surf' but you could use any painting that links to your topic or just inspires you! I have used this lesson many times and the children absolutely love it!
