After realising a lot of pupils have trouble comprehending the idea of development and what it involves, I created this helpsheet and a template to help those with SEN. I use it in the project they do before they start controlled assessment to get pupils used to the idea of development in year 10. It could however be used with year 11.

These are resources for a fabric finishes lesson orginally for year 12 but could be used with KS4. PPT about finishes and activity cards print and cut up. Discuss the 3 types of finishes and then get pupils to classify the finishes cards under the three categories- works well in groups. These are versatile when used with the garment images. Pupils can match up the finishes cards with the products they could be used on or get pupils to identify which finishes are used for what reason, eg. safety, aesthetic, comfort, durability and so on.

GCSE. Health & Safety in Industry Relay

This is a quick on the draw activity for GCSE about H&S in Textiles. AQA syllabus. I print these off on different coloured paper and divide pupils in to 4 teams. Each team have to figure out the answer to their question and tell me the correct answer in order to get the next question. First team to finish wins. They could however be used in other ways successfully. I usually show pupils a video about HéS and then do this activity with them.
