About
The National Gallery of Australia's collections include more than 160,000 works of art across four main areas: Australian art, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander art, Asian art and European and American art. The National Gallery of Australia strives to foster a greater understanding and knowledge of visual art and the creative process as well as increase sensitivity to cultural differences and cultural identity. It is the Gallery's intention to make the collection as widely appreciated as possible. While visual art is the main focus of the Gallery, other key learning areas that can be discussed in relation to works of art include English, studies of society and environment, Aboriginal studies, Asian studies, technology, civics and citizenship, health and languages. The National Gallery of Australia aims to provide a wide variety of online learning resources for educators, students and families. For more information and resources, please visit: www.nga.gov.au
